YOUR FAMILY'S
ROCK MUSCLE?

You don't have to love reality television or play musical instruments to be excited about the upcoming "My Family Rocks," set to air on a major music television network this summer. The show, a spin on hits such as "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "American Idol," is equal parts talent show and makeover story. Rivaling families from six American cities will first compete locally and then nationally for a hefty prize and the title of America's ultimate rock 'n' roll family.

The producers of the show are on a nationwide search for these rockstar wannabe families and have pinpointed Cincinnati as a potential hotbed for contenders.

" 'WKRP' is the only thing most people remember about Cincinnati, and that was back in the '70s, so we're trying to give it a new updated image," says Doron Ofir, the show's casting director.

Two families will be picked from each of six cities to compete against each other in a block party where each family performs in hopes of winning more than $5,000 in cash and prizes. Audience members judge who wins the booty. The winning families from each of the six cities will then move on to the national competition.

After an intense, 72-hour rock 'n' roll boot-camp where the family will practice and primp to perfection, it will be time for the final showdown. The performance includes full vocal duties from all family members, including harmonies (no lip synching here!) and a lively dance routine.

So what are the casting directors looking for in families for their show? Singing, dancing or instrument experience are not an issue. Ofir says they want outgoing, fun and energetic families who are ready to open their minds and take on a rival family that maybe they've always wanted to compete with.
