We are no longer Marathon virgins!

We made it!

Today was the hardest thing that we have ever accomplished. It was hard, but we would definitely do it again!

We enjoyed seeing all of the spectators, signs, costumes, etc and it definitely motivated us to get to the finish line. There were great crowds in Hyde Park, Mariemont, O'Bryonville and we enjoyed the sign that said "Running a Marathon....Even a Caveman can do it!". When we ran by the Running Spot, Bob Roncker was wearing his Red Running Spot Costume and was cheering loudly with his sound system and microphone.

One of the best moments of the race was when we saw Adam standing on Columbia Parkway! He had to be out of town for a wedding this weekend and had changed his travel to get back for the race. He was running on 2 hours of sleep (he is a dedicated husband and friend) and even ran with us for about a 1/2 mile. Thanks so much to Adam...the person that got us in all of this!
We are not going to lie...the last 5 miles for us were rough. Everything hurt from the waist down, and we gave it our all to finish in 4:28 min. We finished the last 1.2 miles holding hands and running together. We even got a little choked up with all of the excitement and overwhelming atmosphere of finishing. We decided that it would be hard to run the last 1.2 mile if we were hyperventilating so we stopped that right then! Thanks to everyone for the support, the loud cheering, our parents, our friends, Cin Weekly, The Running Spot, and everyone else that made this happen for us.

Look at the shirts Crystal made for us! We had similar shirts when we were children. Crystal surprised me with the shirts at the finish line and we promptly put them on! What a great surprise!

We are already planning on running our next marathon, but our first marathon on May 6, 2007 will be the most special.

Great job guys. You have my email from Gina's emails. Shoot me a email sometime and we can get together for a run or dinner or whatever. Also, let me know what marathon you are doing next. I would like to do two or three this year but if I don't do the same one, maybe Amy, Grace, Tank and I can come out and cheer you on if is it close enough.

Best of luck to both of you.

Happy Running!

Congrats on a great race! You both did a great job!
I did spot the two of you in Marriemont at the turn around. My husband and I were headed in while you were headed out. I was the crazy one screaming, "Go Twins!", "it's KMP".

Thanks for all the blog posts. I really enjoyed reading everyone's blog. It was nice to see others going through the same thing I was. Training is always better when you feel like you are not alone in this.

Good luck to your running future - glad to hear you want to do another marathon (they are addicting). Feel free to keep me posted on what you are up to - you can get to my email through my blog.

Happy running!

I don't know where our next marathon will be but possibly the Seattle one over Thanksgiving when we visit my parents. Of course, there is always Columbus. I heard Chicago was already sold out. I just want to be ready again this fall in the September/October time frame. We are doing the Blast program! We signed up to train with the spot for the rest of the year.

Hey KMP! We heard you in Mariemont! I wish I could have gotten to say hello more formally, but I know we will "run" into each other in the future.

Happy Happy running!

Hey Eric,

Amber and I have signed up to train with Bob Roncker's Training Program for the rest of the year. This includes training for the Hyde Park Blast, Thanksgiving Day Race, and a Fall Marathon. We loved being a part of the program and learned a lot about running and met awesome people. Here is a link to the training programs that the store offers.

Let me know if you have any questions about it, and congratulations on your marathon time. You did great! :-)

Awesome job you guys!!! I stayed with the 4:30 pace group until Mile 16 or so and then I gave up. I realized that after being sick 2 weeks ago I needed to adjust my goal. I moved onto just finishing faster than last year's 4:51. I ended up with a PR of 4:48:52. It was great talking to you at the start and I'm so happy you guys had a great time.
