Follow-up Friday!
Our parents live in Seattle, WA and I have been talking to my dad a lot about my marathon training and how great it is, how much I am looking forward to train for another, etc, and he is thinking of signing up for the Seattle Marathon over Thanksgiving Day weekend. Daddy is pretty athletic now. He loves riding his bike but I think he is looking for something different. I sent him some info on Jeff Galloway's training program which encourages the walk/run approach. I think it is awesome that he is considering running a marathon at 56 years old. Crystal and I have already promised if he trains, we would run it with him. How is that for pressure to sign up, dad? :)
We are very close to our parents and they are coming from Seattle to watch us run the marathon. We are so excited not only about seeing them (we miss them so much), but also in that they can share this event with us. Mom has taken up scrapbooking and has been keeping the articles and is planning on taking lots of pictures of us over the course of the weekend. We are very much like our dad when it comes to setting goals. With all of this marathon talk (which we flood their ears with almost daily), we have ignited a little flame under him to set and accomplish a similar goal. Mom and Dad repeatedly ask us if we are being paid by either Bob Roncker's Running Spot or Jelly Belly since we mention them so much in our blogs. Even though we do not have any contracts set up yet, we are willing to do commercials. (Remember the Doublemint Gum commercials?) Are you humming the jingle yet?
After we run 20 miles on Saturday, Crystal and I are heading downtown for the Downtown HopAround! This is a twice yearly event that started off as a grassroot effort to get Cincinnatians to come support downtown after the riots. The first year was in 2001, and then they started the event again in 2006. Here is the link: http://www.downtownhoparound.com/ Come check it out! Everything gets started at Sully's at 6PM with a kickoff event with Mayor Mark Mallory, WKRP in Cincinnati Actor Gary Sandy, and former All Star Reds pitcher Tom Browning. I promise it will be lots of fun!
Check the blog on Sunday to get a full report on the 20 miler and the Downtown HopAround....

Grossness. Keep your feet out of cyberspace! Nobody (besides maybe Adam & Crystal) wants to see your stinky feet! Ha!

Funny story: Gary Sandy seemed to enjoy my company, a little too much, which was creeping me out. So, I kept talking about my "girlfriend" in order to get him to back down. When he asked if she was there with me, I said, "Yeah, she is over there."
I pointed without looking and he said, "Hmmm the blonde? She is pretty, she is a lucky woman". I looked over and I had pointed to you.
You unknowingly had become my girlfriend for about 10 minutes. Thanks.
I almost said something to you about it, but then I saw Gary working his way back to where I was standing (which was near you), and to avoid an awkward moment, I split.
(Thank god I didn't point into the direction of the hefty older redheaded woman wearing a black trashbag and showing everyone her outdated treasure chest.)
To "D",
I was surprised to read your Gary Sandy story. I had always thought he seemed to be incredibly "classy" and polished in movies, and in radio and magazine interviews. What was he doing that was so "creepy"? Perhaps he simply had too much to drink at the Hoparound party.
Sincerely
