The view from here is purple

From our office windows you can see the Purple People Bridge. And lately, if you look closely, you can see people crawling around on top. Kind of like little bugs.
Two weeks ago, two of those bugs were CiN reporter Gina Daugherty and photographer David Sorcher, experiencing the bridge climb first-hand for this week's cover story. I have to say, I was purple with envy. But soon I'll have my chance.
CiN Weekly is giving away a climb for two with dinner at Tropicana. We're calling it "Climb and Dine" - yes, our cleverness knows no limits - and you can read all about the contest right here. Part of the deal is the winner gets to climb for free with two CiN staffers - sales rep Julie Hengehold and yours truly. I know what you're thinking - could the prize get any better? Please don't answer that.
I've been waiting to jump into one of those dashing purple and yellow jumpsuits since I first saw the sketches of the bridge climb last spring in the office of Dennis Spiegel, the Cincinnati-based theme park consultant who is behind The Purple People Bridge Climb. Listening to his sales pitch (the climb is modeled after a similar attraction in Australia and will be the first of its kind in North America) and watching the whole thing come together outside my window got me thinking - what other Cincinnati landmarks could we turn into thrill attractions? For example:
What about a street-luge course down the hills of Mount Adams?
Or an ATV racing track in the mud pit, er, I mean, Banks development site next to Great American Ball Park?
Paint-balling in the tunnels of the subway system that never was?
Let me know if you have other ideas. No idea will be considered too crazy.
Time will tell if the bridge climb will be a hit or a big purple flop, but here's my prediction: Unlike my ideas, here's one crazy concept that just might work.
