New music: Viva Voce
Yes, today you can get new discs from Justin Timberlake and Beyonce (both fun end-of-summer options) - but in the up-and-coming indie department, I recommend checking out the new Viva Voce disc, Get Yr Blood Sucked Out.
I can't remember how I first heard this band (I think it was at a listening station at Shake It in Northside, perhaps), but it's perfect lo-fi indie with a little bit of psychadelic 70s stuff going on. The band is husband-and-wife duo Kevin and Anita Robinson - and they make pretty music in their house in Portland, Oregon.
