It's TiVo for your ears!
It's a streaming radio station that you personalize by inputting some of your favorite songs or artists. Then, it plays back music that features some of the same qualities as the music you chose. I've been listening for a few hours, and so far it's been wrong only once.
If you click the song, you can "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down" it, buy the album from Amazon or iTunes, and (my favorite part) find out why it picked that song for you.
Pandora is almost bizarrely specific about the reasons for recommending the music it does. This ain't Amazon, where if you ask why it thinks you should listen to Bowie, it replies "because you gave that Madonna album five stars." The song I'm listening to right now ("Cherish the Day (Antillas Remix)" by Plummet) was chosen because it features "light rock influences, tremendous bass, beats made for dancing, a smooth female vocal and romantic lyrics." One song was recommended because I seem to enjoy songs with a "busy acoustic hihat," another because it was in 12/8 time. Seriously.
You can also create multiple stations, in case you're a picky eater and don't like your genres touching each other. Plus, it's free!
So far, the only drawback I've encountered is that it doesn't seem to recognize Pale 3. Then again, who does?

This is possibly the lamest post I've ever seen. It's like masturbating to Warm 98. No, really, it's great... it's like letting Google think for you. Who has time to bother with defining their own opinions and tastes. The things we do/see/watch/buy/say/believe in/work for/die for/stand up for/ abrely differentiate us anyway so why not let a search engine decide upon our choice in music. It's probably safer anyway. And cheaper... companies can save millions in advertising and marketing dollars knowing that there is a worldwide market of highly suggestible retards who will do as they are told. The machine knows you better than you know yourself. Way to think there, weak mind.
Don't open this site!!!!
This is part of the government's project to send subliminal messages.
If you know anything about the story of Pandora, then you will understand.
Summary:
Pandora was the first woman, bestowed upon humankind as a punishment for Prometheus's theft of fire. Entrusted with a box containing all the ills that could plague people, she opened it out of curiosity and thereby released all the evils of human life.
Dear "thedeadamerican" and "Conspiracy Theory":
You are both freaks. Calm down and take your meds.
If there's something out there that provides me with suggestions for music I might like, then I guess I'm glad I have a weak mind. Kelly, thanks for the info! iTunes does the same thing with suggestions for music based on your previous purchases. I've found several new bands out there that I would not have found out about otherwise. If dead american would actually think about it, as a consumer/listener, we actually are deciding our choice in music. This service just shows us more of what we like. What's lame is putting it down. Conspiracy theory.....your act is really old and boring, although good for people to comment on. Anyway, thanks again Kelly!
I know that all my theories are not right, that is why they are theories. And I might be wrong on this one, but why do you think it is called Pandora? With the falcons brought in to eat the doves, I know I am right. Sometimes you need to take a step back and ask why.
If you don't want to believe that the government has controls in place that are not seen by the average person, then do so. I am only trying to help people see the other side of the story.
Unless you(pres.)have proof....
Really, think(bush)about it
