Snow Stories
1. 1977 and 1978. So I don't really remember these years that were filled with blizzards but I have some way cool photos of me in a Dad-built igloo wearing a pink snowsuit. Thanks, Dad, for making me those igloos!
2. 1980s. Building snowmen (and women) as a child. My favorite time was when the snowperson had beer cans for eyes. I just thought that was hilarious.
3. 1992. I actually took my driving test on a snow day from school. Maybe not the wisest move. Trying to maneuver through a maneuverability course that had snow piles around it was not so fun. I didn't pass.
4. 1994. Yes, we ARE the class that the legislature had to pass a special law for so we could graduate. It seemed we had WEEKS of snow and ice days that year. I have pictures of my sister and me ice skating on the driveway and "walking/skating the dog."
5. 1995. Columbia, Mo., had 19 inches of snow in one day and Mizzou cancelled classes for the 1st time since 1978. I was a freshman and joined my fellow dormmates in sledding down the vet school's hill. Some fun times. Even my parents were amazed because the pictures of our snowstorm made the Middletown Journal.
Sure, there are more, but those are the first that come to mind. Everyone stay safe out there!

In 1994 Miami cancelled class for the first time in years. It was 23 below zero. There is a picture somewhere of myself and a friend standing in Uptown Oxford under the bank digital thermometer reading -23.
I myself am wonder if I should go to the beach or just swim in the pool. It is only 74 degrees out as I type. A bit cool for the pool, unless we turn on the heater. I could still go for a walk on the beach to find a few sharks teeth.
Make sure the airport is open by Monday Please!!!!! Bwaaaaahahhaaha! Oh, that feels good to say.
I too was at Miami during the big storm of 94. I turned 21 during the cold spell and nobody would go uptown with me!
I WANTED to go uptown with you. I just didn't want to break my arse trying to get there!
Yikes, I'm young.
In 1994 I was attending Milford Junior High School. School was cancelled for a week. Monday through Thursday I could understand; but I remember thinking on that Friday, as my family drove around in the bright sun on the perfectly plowed roads, "The superintendant must have just not wanted to deal with sending everyone back to school on a Friday."
Another fun winter memory is from my elementary school days, when I was living in Bellefontaine, Ohio. It was my first ice storm, and since I didn't have to drive around in it, I thought it was gorgeous - everything all encased in a silvery layer of ice. It was like the world had turned to glass. Half the town (including our house) lost power for the entire day. Since we couldn't cook anything, my dad took my sister and me to Hardee's for breakfast before dropping us off at school. That's right: we still had school. The Bellefontaine schools didn't close for ANYTHING.
Yesterday in Columbus, it took me an hour to chip my car free from the ice - and this was with the heater going full blast inside. (That's the downside of an ice storm, I guess.)
